    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying apparatus with reduction in drying speed prevented.
      SOLUTION: A circulation duct 37 circulates dry air blown on a photosensitive material 10a in the drying apparatus 31. A temperature sensor 51 is disposed near the inlet of the circulation duct 37 to detect the temperature of the circulating air. A controller 53 receives temperature information on circulating air from the temperature sensor 51 and controls a heater 36, on the basis of the temperature information to regulate the temperature of dry air. Even if the temperature of circulating air decreases, when the size of the photosensitive material 10a is changed or a large amount of photosensitive materials 10a are processed, the decrease in the temperature of circulating air is immediately detected, and the temperature of dry air can be increased. Dry air is therefore kept at a constant temperature, and drying of the photosensitive material 10a is stabilized, independently of the number and size. Reduction in drying speed can also be prevented.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying apparatus which does not cause drying unevenness and stably conveys a photosensitive material.
      SOLUTION: A dry air blowing board 46 is provided with columns of blow-off holes 46a lined up at prescribed intervals in the conveying direction of the photosensitive material. In each of the columns of the blow-off holes 46a, the blow-off holes are spaced a smaller interval away from the adjacent blow-off holes in the front part A1 of the dry air blowing board 46 near a dry air supply port 47 and the blow-off holes are spaced a larger interval away from the adjacent blow-off holes in the rear part A2 of the dry air blowing board 46 further from the dry air supply port 47. In the front part A1, the velocity of the blown off dry air is lower however the ratio of the opening area occupying per unit area of the board is greater, whereas in the rear part A2, the velocity of the blown off dry air is higher however the ratio of the opening area occupying the per unit area is smaller. As a result, the quantity of the dry air blown off in any region of an outer surface 46e of the dry air blowing board 46 is made about the same, and the dry air is blown uniformly to the surface of the photosensitive material 10.

    • A method and apparatus for changing the temperature of a moving continuous web (12). The apparatus includes a chamber (26) within which are mounted spaced parallel rollers (10) for contacting one side of the web and a housing (18) interposed between adjacent rollers and having an upper perforated surface (22) which is in close proximity to and along the entire width of the side of the web contacting the rollers. A suction device (30) in fluid communication with the chamber (26) establishes a pressure differential on opposite sides of the web (12) to deflect the web section extending between adjacent rollers (10) to provide a predetermined angle of contact of the web with the rollers. Said suction device (30) is in fluid communication with the elongated housing (18) and causes fluid to be withdrawn from the housing. The fluid has a temperature different from that of the web and flows substantially longitudinally of the web and in proximity to the entire width of the web section which extends between the rollers.
