    • An object of the present invention is to provide a novel flame-retardant resin composition capable of exhibiting high flame retardancy without incorporation of flame retardants containing halogen atoms, phosphorus atoms, nitrogen atoms, and the like. A flame-retardant resin composition of the present invention includes a resin component composed of a polyphenylene ether resin (A) and an aromatic vinyl resin (B); a silicone compound (C) represented by the average compositional formula (1) below; and a metal silicate compound (D) having a pH of 8.0 or more and a volume-average particle size of 1 nm to 100 μm: R1mR2nSiO(4-m-n)/2 (1) (wherein R1 represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R2 represents an aromatic hydrocarbon group; and m and n each represent a number satisfying the relationships: 1.1≦m+n≦1.7 and 0.4≦n/m≦2.5).
