    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the contact condition of water to washing so as to efficiently perform rinsing by controlling to conduct the operation of normally rotating a rotary tub and the operation of reversing the rotary tub while water is poured into the rotary tub. SOLUTION: During washing operation, water is poured to a preset water level in a rotary tub 11, a stirring body 23 is rotated by a motor 20 to perform washing operation, and after the end of washing operation, a drain valve 4 is opened to discharge water. Next, water is poured into the rotary tub 11 through a water filling port 15a of an inner cover 15, the motor 20 is rotated in the normal direction at a low speed, and the rotary tub 11 is rotated in the normal direction at a low speed in synchronization with the stirring body 23 to perform shower rinsing. Afterward, after one dewatering operation, a.c. braking force is applied to the motor 20 to make inertia rotation of the rotary tub 11 for performing the second shower rinsing, and subsequently the motor 20 is rotated in the reverse direction at a low speed for the third shower rinsing, and after that, the second dewatering operation is performed to complete washing.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the waste of power consumption caused by a display means prior to the start of washing operation and eliminate the need for resetting the set contents. SOLUTION: Prior to the start of washing operation, this washing machine is left alone with a display thereof at the state (a) and a power switch 28 is closed. After 5 minutes pass, a power saving mode of (b)-(f) starts. In this mode, process display devices 34-36 alone are turned on (b), a course display device 38 alone turned on (c), a water level display device 42 alone turned on (d), a reservation display device alone turned on (e), (fails to be turned ON in this case), and an amount of detergent display device 48 alone turned on (f). In this manner, the display is switched at an interval of 1 sec. (this operation is repeated thereafter). In the power saving mode, when a start switch 29 is turned on, the display is returned to the state (a) and washing operation is executed according to the set contents.
