摘要： A method of handing over an ongoing real-time call involving a mobile station, from a circuit switched bearer in a current cell of a radio access network to a packet switched bearer in a target cell of the same or a different radio access network, the ongoing call having been established using the services of an IP Multimedia Subsystem. The method comprises sending a handover instruction from the radio access network responsible for the current cell or from the mobile station to the IP Multimedia Subsystem, the instruction identifying the target cell, in response to receipt of said instruction at the IP Multimedia Subsystem, establishing a packet switched bearer in the target cell, and transferring the ongoing call from said circuit switched bearer to said packet switched bearer.

摘要： A method of handing over an ongoing real-time call from a current cell to a target cell belonging to one or more radio access networks, where the ongoing call was established using the services of an IP Multimedia Subsystem and is transported in the current cell over a packet switched bearer. The method comprises, at the radio access network responsible for said current cell, identifying one or more target cells for the handover, and, if a packet switched handover of the ongoing call cannot be performed to the target cell or a preferred one of the target cells, signalling to the IP Multimedia Subsystem the identity of the target cell or the preferred target cell. A handover instruction is then sent to the radio access network responsible for the target cell or the preferred target cell and a circuit switched bearer to which the ongoing call can be transferred is established within the target cell or preferred target cell.

The access network comprises local base stations each defining a mini-cell and adapted to communicate with mobile terminals over an unlicensed-radio interface and an access network controller connected to the local base stations and to a packet service node in the core network portion. The mini-cells are also grouped into at least two packet service cells. The local base stations that generate these mini-cells are assigned a cell identifier comprising a first identifier portion that is common for all local base stations connected to the access network controller and a second identifier portion that is different for local base stations in different packet service cells but common for all local base stations in the same packet service cell.

摘要： Cellular mobile networks can include unlicensed-radio access networks, which comprise access point controllers (303) connected via a fixed broadband network (302) to access points (301) that communicate with mobile stations (1) via unlicensed radio. The access points are connected to the broadband network from any location by the subscriber. In order to alleviate the configuration required to enable handover each access point controller is assigned to a location area defined in the conventional cellular network. A mobile station entering the mini-cell of an access point sends the access point information concerning the location area for the last cell of conventional network it communicated with. With this information, the access point obtains from a memory (40) the fixed broadband address of the access point controller assigned to this location area. The access point uses this address to establish a connection with the access point controller assigned to handle its current location.
