摘要： A cylinder head gasket (1) includes two pieces of gasket base plates (3) providing a combustion chamber hole (3A), and a spacer (4) arranged surrounding a cylinder bore (2) in an endless manner and is held between the gasket base plates. Each gasket base plate has a full-bead portion (3a) and a half-bead portion (3b) within a range thereof that superposes on the spacer (4). The spacer, the full-bead portion and the half-bead portion are held continuously along the circumferential direction of the cylinder bore between the cylinder head (5) and the cylinder block (6). Due to the spacer, the full-bead portion and the half-bead portion are press-contacted to the opposing member with a high surface pressure and over a relatively wide contact area. Therefore, a favorable sealing performance is obtained despite the presence of a cavity or a scar in the junction surface of the opposing side.

SOLUTION: This cylinder head gasket 1 is composed of a first gasket base 2 on the upper face side and a second gasket base 3 on the lower face side. Both gasket bases 2 and 3 are formed with full bead parts 2b and 3a overlapping each other. A folded part 3A is formed at the second gasket base 3, and the outer side tip part (the edge part of a through hole 3b) and the edge part of a through hole 2a of the first gasket base 2 are brought into close contact with each other. This constitution can prevent the intrusion of combustion gas into a clearance between the edge part of the through-hole 3b and the edge part of the through-hole 2a, and the intrusion of combustion gas into a clearance between both gasket bases 2, 3 through the clearance between both edges.

The basket 11 has a control plate 21 for controlling the flow of cooling water, the plate being protruded into the water gasket 4. The control plate 21 is formed circularly along the shape of the water jacket 4, and provided on the intake port side.

A protruding piece 21 is provided protrusively into a connection part 5b constituting the passage 5, and this protruding piece 21 prevents the cooling water carried through the passage 5 from directly cooling the upper part of the cylinder wall 3. By providing the protruding piece, the excessive cooling of the cylinder wall of a high temperature can be prevented.
