SOLUTION: The process of manufacturing a liquid crystal panel comprises: forming a polyimide film 92 to be an alignment layer over the entire surface of a transparent glass substrate 90 on which a transparent electrode 91 is formed; placing a mask 77 to separate a part of the alignment layer corresponding to the position of the terminal section of the transparent electrode from other part; generating gas discharge between an electrode 78 and the alignment layer under atmospheric or near atmospheric pressure to produce excited active species of a predetermined gas by the gas discharge; and selectively exposing a part of the alignment layer to the excited active species to remove the layer. An excited and activated predetermined gas is generated with the gas discharge and the peripheral sections of the transparent protective layer is selectively exposed to the excited and activated gas and removed. Many gas exhaust ports 41, by which the flow rate of the gas can be regulated, are provided around the discharge region 51. Thus, the gas is uniformly exhausted around the discharge region 51. Especially, even if the gap between the dielectric 37 and a work 39 depends on mounting accuracy or the like and varies with location, the gas can be exhausted uniformly around the discharge region 51.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep treatment rates high, simplify the structure and assembly of a device, and perform a local surface treatment by eliminating the need for cooling electrodes against heat generated by a discharge. A discharge gas is introduced into the gas flow passage from the upper end of the nozzle, a discharge is caused between both electrodes to produce an excitation active seed for the discharge gas, and the flow of discharge gas containing the seed is ejected from a gas outlet 34 at the lower end of the nozzle toward the surface of a material 39 to be processed.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a magnetic recorder which is caused in an inactive state by using a pin having a sloping surface and a fixed member into which the pin is pressed and oscillating a magnetic head to separate it from a magnetic disk. CONSTITUTION:When a shaft 17 of a step motor is revolved, a rotary arm 14 rocks around a shaft 13 via a belt 20. Thus a magnetic head 4 attached to the arm 14 can rock the surface of a magnetic disk 2. A pin 6 having a sloping surface is pressed into a fixed member 7 which is fixed to a base frame via a lock screw 8. The pin 6 and a support spring 5 supporting the head 4 are set out of the outer circumference of the disk 2 and apart from the surface of the disk 2. Thus the disk 2 is separated from the head 4 in a simple structure. As a result, both the disk 2 and head 4 are never damaged in an inactive state.
