    • An air/fuel ratio control system is provided for use with an internal combustion engine. The system includes a first air/fuel ratio detector arranged on an upstream side of a catalytic converter so as to detect the air/fuel ratio of the engine from components of exhaust gas, a second air/fuel ratio detector arranged in the exhaust system and having a detection response speed slower than the first air/fuel ratio detector, a device for controlling the air/fuel ratio of the engine on the basis of results of a comparison between a detection value from the first air/fuel ratio detector and a predetermined first reference value, a device for effecting a correction to the control of the air/fuel ratio by the air/fuel ratio control device on the basis of results of a comparison between a detection value from the second air/fuel ratio detector and a predetermined second reference value, and a device for shifting the second reference value to a lean air/fuel ratio side in a specific operation state of the engine.

    • A feedback control system for an air-fuel ratio according to the present invention comprises a first oxygen sensor for detecting the oxygen concentration of exhaust gas flowing through a first exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine, a second oxygen sensor for detecting the oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas passed through an exhaust gas disposer in a common exhaust passage which is connected with both first and second exhaust pipes of the engine, and an electronic control unit for calculating the amount of fuel supply to each cylinder of the engine in accordance with the oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas detected by means of the first oxygen sensor. The electronic control unit contains therein a correction circuit for correcting the amount of fuel supply to that cylinder of the engine which is associated with the second exhaust pipe, in accordance with the oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas detected by means of the second oxygen sensor.

    • Disclosed herein is an air/fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine. The system includes a first oxygen density sensor element, a second oxygen density sensor element having a slower detection response speed than the first sensor element, an air/fuel ratio control unit for controlling the air/fuel ratio of the engine on the basis of results of a comparison between a detection value from the first sensor element and a standard value, and an air/fuel ratio control correction means for effecting a correction to the air/fuel ratio control by the air/fuel ratio control unit on the basis of results of comparison between a detection value from the second sensor element and a second standard value. An air/fuel ratio controlling oxygen density sensor is also disclosed. The sensor is constructed of a first oxygen density sensor element and a second oxygen density sensor element for detecting the density of oxygen in exhaust gas at a slower detection response speed compared to the first sensor element.
