SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for radially enlarging the ambient temperature shrinkage tube comprises a radially enlarging mechanism 2 for radially enlarging the tube larger than an outer diameter of a core by moving a plurality of bar- like elements 8 to be inserted into the tube in a radial direction. The mechanism 3 has grips 41 of the elements 8, sliders 42 for advancing and retracting the grips 41 and slide holders 43 for supporting the sliders 42.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a foreign material from entering a part between the inner circumferential part of an insulator unit and the outer circumferential face of a pipe with expandable diameter, when the diameter of the insulator unit is expanded in order to form the connection part of a power cable by using the insulator unit. SOLUTION: A pipe 1 with expandable diameter which is formed in a pipe shape by winding a leaf spring and whose outside diameter is variable is used. When an insulator unit is shipped, the pipe 1 is inserted in a clean room so as to be brought into close contact with the inner circumferential face of the insulator unit. In its execution, the inside diameter of the pipe 1 is expanded together with the insulator unit. Thereby, the inner circumferential face of the insulator unit is protected by the pipe 1 with expandable diameter up to its execution from its shipment, and it is possible to prevent a foreign material from entering.

摘要： PURPOSE:To decide a faulty section by detecting a fault current of a power cable through a CT, driving a solenoid with the output therefrom to bend an optical fiber, and then detecting the optical loss thud produced through an OTDR at the end of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:When a CT3 disposed at a joint of a power cable A detects a fault current of the power cable A, a solenoid 5 is operated with the output therefrom. Consequently, a stopper 6 is removed from a lower member 4b which is urged upward by means of a spring 7 and engages with an upper member 4a thus bending an optical fiber 1. Consequently, optical loss is generated in the fiber 1 and the generating position is detected at the fiber end 1 by means of an OTDR 2. Such detection mechanism is installed at each joint and the length of the optical fiber up to the installing position is previously measured. The joint of the cable, through which the fault current passed, is then determined with reference to the loss generating point. The fault point is located by tracking the fault current passing points.
