摘要： A system and method for supplying ink to a print head on a moving carrier using the acceleration of the print head carrier to assist in pumping the ink. The system includes an ink supply reservoir and an ink pump on the moving carrier where the ink pump has a carrier reservoir including at least one flexible wall that deforms from inertial resistance to acceleration of the moving carrier, a print head, and a pressure regulator in fluid communication with the carrier reservoir and the print head. The system also has an ink supply tube in fluid communication with the ink supply reservoir and the carrier reservoir such that acceleration of the moving carrier and ink pump deforms the flexible wall and thereby pumps ink from the ink supply reservoir to the carrier reservoir and from the carrier reservoir to the print head, or solely to the carrier reservoir. The flexible wall preferably includes a mass integrated therewith that increases inertial resistance to the acceleration of the moving carrier and deformation of the flexible wall, and the carrier reservoir preferably includes a rigid member in its interior that prevents deformation of the flexible wall into the interior of the carrier reservoir. The method includes providing ink in a stationary ink supply reservoir, accelerating the moving carrier, and pumping ink from the ink supply reservoir to a print head using a flexible wall in the ink pump that deforms from inertial resistance to the acceleration of the moving carrier.

An air purge chamber is provided in flow communication between the reservoir and the cartridge. The air purge chamber includes a vent with a plug of hydrophobic material in the vent, and an outlet to the cartridge. The outlet communicates with a check valve leading to the cartridge. A screen of hydrophilic material is provided in the conduit, with a system for evacuating ink from the system to the reservoir when the printing device is not in use.

摘要： An ink supply and delivery system for a printer cartridge including a printer cartridge having an interior, at least one air inlet to the interior, and at least one ink outlet from the interior. An air pump is connected to the air inlet of the printer cartridge and creates a positive pressure in the interior of the printer cartridge. The system further includes an ink source, including ink, in the interior of the printer cartridge, the ink source in fluid communication with the ink outlet of the printer cartridge whereby the positive pressure created by the air pump in the interior of printer cartridge forces ink to flow from the ink source in the interior of the printer cartridge through the ink outlet. The ink source is preferably in a resilient container, and the system alternately includes a resilient air container either within, next to, or encapsulating the resilient container of the ink source. The printer cartridge alternately includes a vent to partially vent any accumulated pressure that has escaped from the resilient air container into the interior. There is further disclosed a method of supplying ink from a printer cartridge in a printer that prints upon a media, where the printer cartridge has an interior, at least one air inlet to the interior, and at least one ink outlet from the interior, with a positive pressure created in the interior of the printer cartridge from an air pump connected to the air inlet, and the printer cartridge further has an ink source, including ink, in the interior. The method preferably includes the steps of placing the printer cartridge into a printer, creating positive pressure in the interior of the printer cartridge through activation of the air pump, supplying ink from the ink source in the interior of the printer cartridge through the ink outlet, and printing on a media with the supplied ink.

The coating composition may include a reactive oligomer capable of radiation curing having a number average molecular weight (Mn) of greater than 1500. A reactive diluent may then be combined with the reactive oligomer, which diluent is also capable of radiation curing and which has a Mn of less than or equal to 1500. The reactive diluent may be present at a level of less than fifty percent by weight of the coating composition. The coating composition may be present at a solids level of 90-100%.

After curing, the roller is soaked in hydrogen peroxide to oxidize the outer surface. The oxidized surface layer is electrically resistive.
