摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent oil from being excessively applied to transfer paper or sheet being object for fixing or to a web or a sheet carrying them. SOLUTION: The fixing unit includes: a heat roll; a backup roll; an application means 10 for applying a separation oil to a roll surface and wiping the surface; a supply means 16 for supplying the separation oil to the application means 10; a blade 17 having a leading edge 17d disposed downstream of the application means but upstream of the backup roll in the rotating direction of the heat roll and able to be brought into contact with the heat roll surface and separated therefrom; means 20, 17a, and 17c having the function of adjusting the pressing force of the leading edge 17d of the blade against the heat roll 11, and used to drive the heat roll 11 so that the leading edge 17d comes into contact with the heat roll surface and separates therefrom; and a control means 21 configured such that when fixing starts first time in long recording or a series of short recordings on a recording medium, the pressing force is gradually decreased by the driving means, thereby separating the blade 17 from the contact state.
