摘要： A method for developing fine grained, thermally stable metallic material in which friction stir welding or friction stir processing is performed along at least a portion of the material. Thereafter, a thin layer is removed from either side, or both sides of the material to eliminate the origin of abnormal grain growth occurring when the friction stir welded or friction stir processed material is subjected to subsequent hot forming processes. A sheet of extraneous material is optionally attached to either side, or both sides of the material prior to the friction stir welding or friction stir processing, and this extraneous material is removed after the friction stir welding or friction stir processing. A layer containing pinning particles or a sheet of extraneous material containing pinning particles is further optionally introduced on either side, or both sides of the material prior to the friction stir processing.

摘要： A disk brake includes a caliper body having a cylinder portion (25) with a cylindrical shape. The cylinder portion (25) has a bore (30) with a bottom (34) formed by integrally joining together an opening peripheral edge (98) at the bottom side of the cylinder portion (25) and a bottom cover member (92) to be fitted to the opening peripheral edge (98) through friction stir welding. The bottom cover member (92) has a disk shape and is friction-stir-welded along the outer periphery thereof. The terminating point of the friction stir welding is within the boundaries of the bottom cover member (92).

The heat resistant alloy member according to the present invention includes a recrystallized structure layer including finer grains on the surface of the member than those inside of the member. The recrystallized structure layer is formed by forming a stirred layer by giving processing strain to the surface of the member using a friction stir processing, and applying recrystallization heat treatment to the stirred layer for recrystallization.

The invention disperses a chemical compound phase such as the eutectic carbide or the like crystallizing in a dendrite gap as a granular shape or a blocky shape which is equal to or less than about 100 μm, by moving a tool rotating in a crimped state by a load application to a vertical direction to a surface of the valve seat so as to carry out a friction stir processing, and forming a weld metallographic structure of a surface layer portion of the valve seat as a cubic.

摘要： Provided is high corrosion resistant equipment for a plant having the lining structure which exhibits high reliability against breaking of a joining portion over a long use period. The high corrosion resistant equipment for a plant includes a lining plate and a support portion which are made of a high corrosion resistance material and a structural material portion made of a steel material or the like. The lining plate and the support portion include a joining portion to which friction stirring is applied. The support portion is assembled into or fastened to the structural material portion by means of the geometrical structure with a gap interposed between the support portion and the structural material portion. Due to such a constitution, high corrosion resistant equipment for a plant having the lining which exhibits high reliability can be acquired.
