    • A method, information processing system, and wireless communication system for dynamically assigning a communication channel to a wireless device. A request for a communication channel from a wireless device (108) is received. At least a current-drain profile (120) associated with the wireless device (108) is analyzed. The current-drain profile (120) indicates power consumption associated with the wireless device (108) for a plurality of channel frequency bands. A plurality of communication channels is analyzed with respect to the current-drain profile (120). A communication channel is selected from the plurality of communicating channels in response to the analyzing at least the current-drain profile (120). A communication channel assignment comprising the communication channel that has been selected is transmitted to the wireless device (108) in response to the selecting.

    • A communication system (120, 125) worn by a user (110) includes a base device (120) and an earpiece (125), which are spatially separated but coupled by a communication link. The base device (120) is operable in first and second operating modes (410). When in the first operating mode, the base device (120) receives and presents text based messages in human readable form to the user via a user interface associated with the base device (420, 430, 435, 440). When in the second operating mode, the received message is converted to audible form, preferably using a text-to-speech synthesizer, and presented to the user via the earpiece (430, 455, 460, 465).

    • A motion device (100) includes a shape memory transducer (110) having a preset memory state and logically divided into first and second portions (116, 118). A coupled electrical circuit (130) is operable to selectively energize the first portion (116) to create a force that moves the first portion (116) toward its memory state which moves the second portion (118) in a first direction out of its memory state, and to selectively energize the second portion (118) to create a force that moves the second portion (118) towards its memory state which moves the first portion (116) away from its memory state in a second direction different from the first direction. A feedback system (120) is preferably included to provide for precise motion control.
