    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic/organic hybrid material having a price competitiveness and preparing an aqueous system.
      SOLUTION: This method for producing the inorganic/organic hybrid material consisting of an active silicic acid and a water-soluble polymeric substance is provided by performing an alkali metal removal treatment of a silicic acid alkali metal salt in an aqueous silicic acid alkali metal salt solution by an ion-exchanging material, especially a cation-exchanging resin to produce an aqueous active silicic acid solution, mixing the aqueous active silicic acid solution with the water-soluble polymeric substance and recovering a solid portion from the mixed aqueous solution. The inorganic/organic hybrid material can be utilized in various fields as the aqueous solution and coating containing the material itself, and a sheet-formed material, a membrane material and a layer-constituting material of a laminated material formed therefrom.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper having sufficiently low density and good printability without using particular raw materials and chemicals and provide a method for producing the paper.
      SOLUTION: The paper is composed of two or more layers comprising at least one low-density paper layer and one high-density paper layer. The paper has a density of 3 and contains at least one low-density layer having fiber axis direction deviated from the paper surface by 10-80° on an average, at least one surface layer is a high-density layer and the surface has a smoothness of ≥20 sec determined by an Oken-type smoothness tester. The density of the paper is preferably 0.3-0.45 g/cm
      3 , and the low density layer may contain waste paper as a component. The low-density paper can be produced by using a paper substrate formed by a wet paper-making process and depositing fibers on the substrate by electrostatic force to form the low-density layer.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet which is free, in a backlight unit, from exfoliation caused by the friction between the optical sheet itself and other sheets or the imperfect fixation of a printing ink when printing is executed, since the optical sheet made by using a printing ink causes exfoliation.
      SOLUTION: The optical sheet diffuses light made incident from one side of a transparent base material and emits the light from the other side of the transparent base material. In addition, an ink having light-diffusing properties is printed in a prescribed pattern to form a light-diffusing part, and fine concave-convex structures are formed on the whole printing surface. Furthermore, the pitches and aspect ratios in the structures are 30-380 nm and 0.5-10.0, respectively. The fine concave-convex structures are conical, pyramidal, pseudo-conical or pseudo-pyramidal in shape.
