    • A method and apparatus for converting an input analog signal to an antilog output signal which comprises the generation of a linear ramp signal which increases toward a predetermined response level. A clock signal having a predetermined cycle is provided so that when coincidence is detected between the ramp signal and the input signal, an exponential signal asymptotically approaching a predetermined amplitude with a time constant of predetermined value is then generated until the clock signal reaches the end of its predetermined cycle. At that time, a second linear ramp signal having an instantaneous absolute value of slope determined in accordance with the absolute value of slope of the first ramp signal and an initial absolute value determined in accordance with the absolute amplitude value of the exponential signal at the end of the predetermined cycle is generated. The antilog output signal is proportional to the time period measured from the end of the predetermined cycle until coincidence occurs between the second ramp signal and a reference signal which has a predetermined relationship to the input analog signal.

    • A special plotting paper for determining the unknown concentration of a sample species in titrations utilizing Nernstian response sensing devices. The paper comprises lines defining a vertical and horizontal axis, a set of parallel vertical lines spaced equally apart, and a set of transverse lines spaced anti-logarithmically apart and skewed with respect to the horizontal axis. The intersection of the vertical lines with the horizontal axis forms a linear scale which represents the volume of titrant added. The intersection of the transverse lines with the vertical axis forms an anti-logarithmic scale which represents the electrode potential of the Nernstian device. The transverse lines are skewed to adjust the potential readings for the fractional change in the volume of sample solution due to the addition of titrant. In a titration, the electrode potential readings of the Nernstian device are plotted versus volume of titrant added. A straight line is fitted through the plotted points and is extrapolated to the horizontal axis. The intercept of the straight line and horizontal axis represents the equivalence point from which the unknown concentration of the sample species is easily determined.

    • A system for electrochemical measurement of the concentration of cyanide ions in titrations utilizing Nerstian responsive electrochemical devices for sensing silver ions. The system involves successive additions of a standard solution containing cyanide ion to the sample, in the presence of an indicator comprising an at least partially dissociable silver cyanide complex. Electrode potential measurements of the potentials for the silver ion in equilibrium with the cyanide ion are taken before and after each addition. The potentials are plotted antilogarithmically versus the known increase in concentration of the ion of interest. The original concentration of the ion of interest is obtained by extrapolation of the plot using Gran''s method. The system is especially useful for trace sample determinations.
