    • PURPOSE:To obtain a fused flux for welding contg. diffusible hydrogen at a smaller ratio with good productivity by cooling efficiently and quickly the flux without contact at all with a cooling medium. CONSTITUTION:A rotary drum 5 is rotated and the refrigerant is supplied from a supply pipe 10 and is discharged from a discharge pipe 11 through flow passages 12, 13 to cool the surface 5-1 of the drum 5; at the same time, the refrigerant is supplied from a supply pipe 14 and is discharged from a discharge pipe 15 through a flow passage 16 to cool a stationary flask 6 as well. The molten flux 2 is dropped through a flux pool 4 onto the drum 5 rotating in an arrow B direction and is quickly cooled during passage through a spacing 18 formed of the drum 5 and the flask body 6 and is thereby solidified to a flake or bar shape. The solidified flux is discharged as the glassy solid flux from the lower part. The solidified flux mentioned above is pulverized and is then adjusted to a prescribed grain size. The flux having prescribed quality is thus produced with good efficiency by the above-mentioned method.

    • PURPOSE:To accelerate floating of inclusions in molten steel by disposing a baffle plate for the main flow of the effluent molten steel from the discharge orifice of an immersion nozzle toward the inside wall of the mold. CONSTITUTION:A baffle plate 6 is disposed in the intermediate position between the discharge port 2 of an immersion nozzle 1 and the inside wall of a mold 3. The molten steel main flow F flowed out from the discharge port 2 is powerful in flow and advances in its extension direction but it collides against the face of the baffle plate 6 and diverts to the upward flow F4 and downward flows F5, F6. The downward flows F5, F6 have already stalled owing to face collision and therefore they flow downward while being pushed by the subsequent flows, but the inner flow F5 begins to float slowly to the central direction in the mold 3. On the other hand, the outer flow F6 in question flows downward along the baffle plate 6 face and when there is no more face, it begins to flow slowly to the side direction of the mold 3. In this case, there is a suitable spacing between the baffle plate 6 and shell 5 and the flow F6 is not hampered and floating of the inclusions being carried is assisted by this.
