    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for a composite material which can furnish the composite material with an excellent resistant power to a large deformation, an intermediate material for a composite material and a composite material having excellent mechanical properties.
      SOLUTION: The resin composition comprises an insocyanate modified epoxy resin of 70-150 pts.wt., a copolymerized polyester resin of 3-45 pts.wt. and an epoxy resin curing agent of 5-25 pts.wt. based on a bisphenol A type and/or a bisphenol F type epoxy resin of 100 pts.wt. The resin composition comprises a phenol novolac type and/or a cresol novolac type epoxy resin of 85 pts.wt. or less in addition to the above resin components, wherein this resin composition contains the isocyanate modified epoxy resin of 50-150 pts.wt. The resin composition contains a defoaming agent of 1-1,000 ppm based on a total weight of the composition in addition to the above resin components.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a void-free, crack-resistant, high toughness, and short-cure-time fiber-reinforced composite material, to provide a resin composition suited for use in this method, and to provide a fiber-reinforced composite material using the resin composition.
      SOLUTION: The resin composition comprises 100 pts. wt. (A) cyanate ester resin comprising 50 to 100 pts. wt. (A1) resin modified with 5 to 30 wt.% rubber and 0 to 50 pts. wt. (A2) resin not modified with a rubber and 0.01 to 0.5 pt. wt. (B) metal coordination type catalyst, has a viscosity in the range of 100 to 800 mPa s at 50 to 120°C, and keeps the above viscosity range for 1 hr or longer in the above temperature range. The fiber-reinforced composite material is obtained by subjecting the resin composition to the following steps (1) to (3) in the given order: (1) the step of arranging reinforcing fibers in a die, (2) the step of heating the resin composition at 50 to 120°C to impregnate the reinforcing fibers with the resin composition, and (3) the step of heating the entire to 120 to 200°C after the impregnation.

      SOLUTION: The resin composition for composite materials includes 1-15 pts.wt. of organic fine particles, 3-45 pts.wt. of a polyester copolymer resin and 5-25 pts.wt. of an epoxy resin-curing agent based on 100 pts.wt. of a bisphenol-A epoxy resin and/or a bisphenol-F epoxy resin. In addition to these resin components, ≤85 pts.wt. of a phenol novolak modified epoxy resin and/or a cresol novolak modified epoxy resin are combined to give the resin composition for composite materials. In another embodiment, 1-1,000 ppm of a defoaming agent is admixed to the resin composition for composite materials.
