    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel cobalt oxide-carrying aluminosilicate catalyst which is more highly active as compared to the conventional oxidative or combustion catalyst and its production method, and to provide an oxidative decomposition method of an object to be treated by means of the catalyst. SOLUTION: The cobalt oxide-carrying aluminosilicate catalyst is an oxidative or combustion catalyst containing aluminosilicate as a constitutional component which contains or occuludes active oxygen (super oxide, peroxide) in the structure and is characterized in that the cobalt oxide is carried on the surface of aluminosilicate. The catalyst is produced by subjecting Co-containing hydrogarnet to heat decomposition. The object to be treated such as a volatile organic compound is oxidatively decomposed by the catalyst.
