    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for working on an end surface of a tubular article which is easy to operate and can surely apply finish-machining in a short time. SOLUTION: A turn of an endless grinding belt 41 with a driven required width is pushed against an end surface of a workpiece 60 held by a workpiece holding means 10 and rotating around the axial line, and the belt is reciprocated widthwise in an appropriate range for grinding. In addition, to carry out such a working method, an apparatus is employed, which includes the workpiece holding means 10 for fixedly holding the workpiece 60 detachably and coaxially on a rotation axis center line (a) for applying rotation driving force to the workpiece 60 around the axial line, a feed means 30 for advancing/retreating a surface to be worked toward the grinding side via the workpiece holding means 10, and a grinding means 40 having the grinding belt 41 driven to rotate oppositely to the means 10.
