The cleaning rotary body is borne by a bearing structure arranged on a traveling carriage 40 traveling on a track rail 1 so as to abut on the side face of the rail 1, and allows a number of grinding elements each having an endless number of abrasive grains adhering thereto, to be tightly arranged on the front surface of a rotary disk. The drive unit drives the cleaning rotary body 12. The removed chipping collecting means is borne on the traveling carriage 40 at a front or rear location with respect to the traveling direction of the cleaning means 11, and functions to receive removed chippings scraped off by the cleaning rotary body 12 and to collect the same in a collecting container 61. In this manner the track rail side face finishing device cleans the rail side face by scattering the removed chippings and collecting the same.
