    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress waveform distortion and noise of ultra high speed signal light and to increase a transmission distance and transmission capacity by a simple constitution which is not provided with a retiming means. SOLUTION: Input signal light and auxiliary light are inputted to an optical fiber 14, provided with a value for which a zero dispersion wavelength, is equal to an input signal light wavelength or slightly shifted to a short wavelength side and a 4-light-wave mixing process is induced. In such an optical fiber 14, 4-light-wave mixing light power abruptly becomes large when input signal light power becomes more than a certain threshold, the input signal light power inside the optical fiber 14 lowers as a reaction and output signal light power is clamped at a fixed value. By the light limiter operation, the noise of the '1' level of input optical signals is suppressed. Then, by converting the optical signals waveform-shaped in such a manner to electric signals modulating the non-modulated light of a prescribed wavelength by the electrical signals, the reproduction of the ultra high speed optical signals to the limit of the operation speed of a photoelectric converter 16, and an optical modulator is performed.
