摘要： This digital transmission system is provided with a transmitting apparatus that transmits digital data signals and a receiving apparatus that receives the digital data signals transmitted over a transmission path, compares the signals with a predetermined threshold value, and performs decision reproduction. The receiving apparatus is formed by: decision circuits that receive the input of reception signals, discriminate between the respective reception signals using a plurality of threshold values, and output decision results; and a selection circuit that, based on the decision results output from the decision circuit, selects one decision result from one threshold value from among the decision results from each of the plurality of threshold values, and outputs the selected decision result. As a result, the receiving apparatus is able to individually select which decision result to use from which threshold value. More specifically, the receiving apparatus is formed by: k number (i.e., k x n) of decision circuit sets each having different threshold values, with one set formed by a plurality (n number) of decision circuits having the same threshold value; distribution circuits that distribute reception signals to the respective decision circuits; a selection circuit that selects and outputs one decision result from the decision circuits; and a control circuit that controls the selection circuit such that the input of the decision results is received from each decision circuit, a set in which the decision results of n number of decision circuits are the same is selected from all sets, and the decision result of one decision circuit from that one set is selected.

摘要： According to conventional DACs on a CMOS platform, the analog output band thereof is substantially 15 GHz, which is insufficient and causes a bottleneck in realizing increase in capacity of a communication system. According to conventional technology, even if multiple DACs are applied, only an output having the same band as that of a single DAC is obtainable. In addition, there has been a problem relating to asymmetricity of the circuit structure even if an output having a wider band than that of a single DAC is obtained. In a signal generating device according to the present invention, multiple normal DACs are combined to realize a further wider band analog output than the output band of a single DAC, and to solve the problem relating to asymmetricity of the circuit structure. According to the present invention, a series of operations are performed within a digital range, which operations comprise: separating a desired signal into a low-frequency signal and a high-frequency signal within a frequency range; and multiplying the amplitude of the high-frequency signal by a constant number (r), so as to be shifted on the frequency axis and to be superimposed on the low-frequency signal. The output from each DAC is switched by a multiplexer. Also disclosed is a structural example adaptable to occurrence of a multi-carrier signal.

摘要： RZ (return-to-zero) optical signal with optical carrier component suppressed has optical spectrum bandwidth as half as that of a prior art. An input electrical signal in NRZ (non-return-to-zero) format is first pre-coded to produce a binary pre-coded NRZ signal so that said binary pre-coded NRZ signal is inverted for each one (0 or 1) of the binary values of input NRZ signal. The pre-coded NRZ signal is differentiated to produce ternary-level electrical signal having first level, second level, and third level. The first level corresponds to a rising edge, the third level corresponds to a falling edge, and the second level corresponds to a duration between a rising edge and a falling edge, of a pre-coded NRZ signal. Thus, polarity of the pulse at said rising edge is opposite to that at said falling edge. The differentiated signal drives an optical intensity modulator to produce an optical signal in RZ format in which phase of the optical signal is inverted for each optical marked pulse.
