    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel widening method which enables a tunnel to be partially widened in a safe and economical manner in a short construction period, and a widening segment for use in the tunnel widening method.
      SOLUTION: The widening segment 3, in which a cutter head and a cutter driving part therefor are built, is assembled as a part of a segment ring 1 on the inner wall surface G of the tunnel; an excavating jack 10 for driving the cutter head is installed in the cutter driving part; an extruding jack 12 for extruding the cutter head, is installed in the widening segment; the cutter head is extruded in the outward direction of the tunnel from the widening segment for each cutter driving part by means of the extruding jack, while being operated by the excavating jack; a sliding jack 18 for sliding the widening segment is installed in the segment ring 1; the tunnel is partially widened by sliding the widening segment in the outward direction of the tunnel by means of the sliding jack while operating the cutter head by means of the excavating jack; and the various jacks are removed after the tunnel is widened.

A first bulkhead 46 forming a chamber when the cutter excavating part 28 advances straight for excavation is provided on a rear surface of the cutter excavating part 28, and a second bulkhead 32 forming a chamber in a rear end part in the direction of slide when excavating the semicircular cross section is provided in the slide frame 26.
