The method is achieved by first introducing a tubular member having a first diameter to a preselected treatment site, wherein said tubular member exhibits shape memory characteristics. The tubular member is then expanded to a second diameter at the treatment site and deployed at the treatment site. After a predetermined time, the tubular member is retrieved from the treatment site by causing the tubular member to return to its first diameter and withdrawing the tubular member from the treatment site. A tubular member with shape memory characteristics for use in accordance with the method is also provided.

The process of removing ingested food can be improved by alternating the infusion of liquid into the stomach with the removal of material from the stomach. Optionally, stomach acid may be captured and returned to the stomach. Optionally, nutritional supplements or medicines may be added to the infused liquid. Optionally, a flush mount connectorized system with a built in valve may be used to simplify the interface with the gastrostomy hardware that remains installed in the patient. Optionally, the system may be configured to disable itself from further use after a triggering event (e.g., the passage of time or a predetermined number of uses) has occurred.

摘要： In accordance with the present invention there is provided a pre-cursor stent for positioning within the infrarenal neck, between an abdominal aortic aneurysm and the renal arteries of a patient to assist in repairing the abdominal aortic aneurysm. The stent is designed to be coupled to a graft for directing blood flow through the aneurysm. The stent is made from a substantially cylindrical self-expanding member having a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis extending therebetween and an interior. The precursor stent further includes at least two spaced apart longitudinal legs having distal and proximal ends, the proximal ends of the legs attached to the distal end of the member, the legs extending distally from the member, each the leg including a flange adjacent its distal end. Also in accordance with the present invention is an aortic graft, having the above mentioned precursor stent attached thereto when fully deployed. Further in accordance with the present invention is a delivery apparatus for the above described precursor stent.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a system, apparatus, and method for treating, repairing, and/or replacing an aneurysm, preferably an aortic aneurysm, and most preferably, an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The systems, devices, and methods of the present invention include a first prosthesis or stent gasket, and at least one second prosthesis for bypassing the aneurysm. In preferred embodiments, the second prosthesis includes a branch leg that may be disposed and anchored in an either a cross artery or a downstream artery to facilitate fluid flow. In other preferred embodiments, at least one third prosthesis is provided for establishing a fluid flow channel through a second diseased artery to bypass an aneurysm disposed therein. In accordance with the invention, the first artery may be the abdominal aorta and the second artery may be an iliac artery.
