摘要： A transcatheter prosthesis includes a stent, a prosthetic valve component, and an anti-paravalvular leakage component. The anti-paravalvular leakage component is coupled to the stent and includes an inner skirt, an outer wrap, a cavity, an opening, and a one-way valve. The inner skirt is disposed on an inner surface of the stent and has an inflow end and a downstream end. The outer wrap is disposed around an outer surface of the stent and has an inflow end coupled to the inflow end of the inner skirt and a downstream end. The cavity is formed between an outer surface of the inner skirt and an inner surface of the outer wrap. An opening is disposed between the inner skirt and the outer wrap. The one-way valve includes a flap at the opening configured to open to allow blood flow into the cavity but prevent blood flow out of the cavity.

The system includes first and second approximation devices each including a magnetic component and an attachment mechanism. Each device is connected to a target tissue segment by the corresponding attachment mechanism. Upon deployment at a target site, the tissue approximation devices are magnetically attracted to one another, approximating the tissue segments and maintaining the tissue segments in the approximated state.

摘要： Systems and methods for modifying a heart valve annulus in a minimally invasive surgical procedure. A helical anchor 40 is provided, having a memory set to a coiled shape or state. The helical anchor is further configured to self-revert from a substantially straight state to the coiled state. The helical anchor is loaded within a needle 204 that constrains the helical anchor to the substantially straight state. The needle is delivered to the valve annulus and inserted into tissue of the annulus. The helical anchor is then deployed from the needle (e.g., the needle is retracted from over the helical anchor). Once deployed, the helical anchor self-transitions toward the coiled shape, cinching engaged tissue of the valve annulus. The system further comprises a clip 254,256 for anchoring a distal end of the needle into tissue of the valve annulus.

Each of the first and second prosthetic valve components includes a stent structure with a prosthetic valve secured therein. In a disclosed method, the first and second prosthetic valve components include prosthetic mitral and aortic valves, respectively, and the dual heart valve prosthesis is configured to replace both the native mitral and aortic valves of the heart in a single transcatheter heart valve implantation procedure. The linkage between the first and second prosthetic valve components is configured to secure the anterior mitral valve leaflet against a wall of the left ventricle when the dual valve prosthesis is implanted within the heart.

摘要： A method for closing an opening at a target site including bodily tissue including embedding a plurality of self-closing clips into the target site in a spaced apart manner about a perimeter of the opening. Each of the clips has opposing clip ends and an intermediate segment. A flexible tether is coupled to the embedded clips to form a loop about the opening perimeter. A pulling force is applied onto at least one of the loop ends, thereby drawing the perimeter of the opening onto itself to completely close the opening. The loop ends are secured to maintain the target site in a closed state. In some embodiments, the target site is apical cardiac tissue, and the method is performed as part of a trans-apical access procedure.

摘要： A biological fluid transport device comprises a cutwater at the junction of at least two blood flow paths. The cutwater is substantially straight, substantially vertical, or both. At least one of the fluid paths may be tubular, and in some embodiments all of the fluid paths are tubular. The shear sensitive fluid may be, without limitation, blood, blood-based combinations, cell culture media, cell suspensions, proteins, and microcapsule suspensions. The device may be part of an extracorporeal circuit (e.g., blood during heart-lung bypass procedures or blood processing), but it need not be. Preferred embodiments of the device include, without limitation, kinetic pumps, mass transfer devices, filters, reservoirs, and heat exchangers.
