摘要： Provided is a method of detecting a missing nozzle in a thermal inkjet printhead. The method includes: applying an input energy high enough to eject ink to a heater corresponding to a target nozzle, and applying an input energy not high enough to eject ink to a heater corresponding to a nozzle adjacent to the target nozzle; when a predetermined time passes, detecting a difference between temperatures which are measured at points spaced by a predetermined distance from each of the two heaters; and determining whether the target nozzle is missing.

The inkjet printhead includes an ink chamber filled with ink to be ejected, a nozzle through which the ink is ejected from the ink chamber, a manifold to supply the ink to the ink chamber, and a restrictor that connects the ink chamber and the manifold and includes a protrusion formed on an inner wall of the restrictor. A main heater is formed on an inner wall of the ink chamber and generates a main bubble in the ink chamber to eject ink and an auxiliary heater is formed on an inner wall of the restrictor and generates an auxiliary bubble to suppress the main bubble in the restrictor from expanding toward the restrictor. Thus, a refill speed of the ink to the ink chamber is increased and a driving frequency of the inkjet printhead is also increased.

The inkjet printhead may includes a plurality of ink pressure chambers, a plurality of piezoelectric actuators to provide the plurality of ink pressure chambers with a driving force for ink ejection, an ink manifold to supply the plurality of pressure chambers, a plurality of restrictors disposed in the ink flow path between the manifold and the plurality of pressure chambers, a plurality of ink ejecting nozzles coupled to the plurality of pressure chambers, and a plurality of unidirectional shutters. The shutters may be disposed at respective outlets of the plurality of restrictors and may be adapted to open the restrictor when ink is supplied from the restrictor to the pressure chamber and close the restrictor and restrict or prevent the backflow of ink when ink is ejected from the pressure chamber through the nozzle.
