    • A brake torque control device obtains inertia torque Tine based upon an equation of motion (Tine=Tw−Ft·Rt) about the rotation of a tire based upon a wheel torque Tw according to a brake torque exerted on the tire, road friction force Ft and a radius Rt of the tire. When the inertia torque Tine exceeds a predetermined reference value, road friction force Ft at this time is set as estimated maximum road friction force Fmax. The instructed brake torque is calculated under the condition that the value that is obtained by adding the predetermined value corresponding to the inertia torque Tine to the torque Fmax·Rt based upon this estimated maximum road friction force Fmax is set as an upper limit value of the instructed brake torque. This allows to clearly set, as one value, the target value of the instructed brake torque upon an ABS control, thereby being capable of more accurately executing the pressure-increasing control and pressure-reducing control of the brake fluid pressure.

    • The present invention provides a method for identifying a thermostable polymerase having altered fidelity. The method consists of generating a random population of polymerase mutants by mutating at least one amino acid residue of a thermostable polymerase and screening the population for one or more active polymerase mutants by genetic selection. For example, the invention provides a method for identifying a thermostable polymerase having altered fidelity by mutating at least one amino acid residue in an active site O-helix of a thermostable polymerase. The invention also provides thermostable polymerases and nucleic acids encoding thermostable polymerases having altered fidelity, for example, high fidelity polymerases and low fidelity polymerases. The invention additionally provides a method for identifying one or more mutations in a gene by amplifying the gene with a high fidelity polymerase. The invention further provides a method for accurately copying repetitive nucleotide sequences using a high fidelity polymerase mutant. The invention also provides a method for diagnosing a genetic disease using a high fidelity polymerase mutant. The invention further provides a method for randomly mutagenizing a gene by amplifying the gene using a low fidelity polymerase mutant.

    • Upon receipt of a segment name obtainment request, the segment name generation unit 104 generates a segment name composed of (1) a file name of a file to which the segment belongs and (2) a number indicating a serial number of the segment in the file. Upon receipt of an access request specifying a segment name, the segment identification unit 119 refers to the segment name to detect the file name and the serial number of the segment in the detected file. The segment position detection unit 106 then refers to the file information storage unit 102 and the segment information storage unit 103 to detect a position where a segment is to be accessed.
