    • The curtain coating apparatus of the invention comprises a sliding face on which a coating solution flows down, a coating width regulating plate which is located on each of both sides of the sliding face and regulates the width of the flow of the coating solution, and an edge guide which is connected to the width regulating plate, and keeps both side edges of free falling stream of the coating solution from the sliding face, wherein a contact angle of water with the coating width regulating plate is greater than a contact angle of water with the edge guide, and the apparatus has solved problems of streaks and uneven thickness at side end portions of a free falling film caused by contraction and teapot phenomenon (residence), by changing wett properties at a coating width regulating plate and an edge guide.

    • In a coating apparatus, a nozzle connects a feed pipe for feeding a coat solution to a manifold of a die with an opening of the manifold. The nozzle satisfies conditions: 1.5≦B/A≦5.0 and 0.8≦C/B≦8.0, when A is an equivalent diameter of an end of the nozzle to be connected with the tube, B is an equivalent diameter of another end of the nozzle to be connected with the opening, and C is a length of the nozzle. The coat solution fed from the feed pipe enters in the nozzle. In the nozzle, the coating solution diverges along with an inner wall of the nozzle to enter into the manifold. In the manifold the coating solution flows in a widthwise direction and flows out through a slit extending from the manifold to a lip of the die, such that a moving web is coated with the coating solution uniformly.

    • The mounting is formed by grinding an integrally molded material with accuracy of the μm order. An upper portion of the mounting is an L-shaped holding portion on which a slot die is positioned. An upper face of the holding portion contacts a lower face of the slot die, and a side face of the holding portion contacts a rear face of the slot die. The lower and rear faces of the slot die and the upper and side faces of the holding portion are formed to have such a straightness for the total length that the unevenness thereof may be in 5 μm. Thus the slot die can be held with high accuracy, and the clearance accuracy between the lips and a web can be increased.
