    • A female connector is provided with a first moving member and a second moving member which are capable of moving independently of each other, and the female connector is further provided with an operating member which is rotatable. The operating member is provided with a pair of first cam grooves whose spiral groove shapes are formed oppositely, while the first and second moving members are provided with first cam pins which are respectively inserted in the pair of first cam grooves. As the operating member is rotated, the first and second moving members are moved in mutually opposite directions. The first and second moving members are each provided with a pair of second cam grooves whose angles of inclination are opposite, while a male connector is provided with second cam pins which are inserted in the second cam grooves. As the first and second moving members are moved in the mutually opposite directions, a moving force acting in a connector-inserting direction is applied to the male connector through the cooperative movement of the first and second moving members.

    • A connector connecting structure in which the manipulation of an operating member for effecting a fitting operation and a disconnecting operation can be effected by one motion. A pair of moving members, which are movable in a direction perpendicular to a connector-inserting direction, is mounted on a female connector. An operating member, which can be displaced between a preset position and a set position in accordance with the movement of the moving members, is mounted on the female connector. Guide grooves are formed in the moving members, and cam pins are formed on a male connector. The guide grooves and cam pins jointly constitute a cam unit. During a connector-inserting process from an insertion start position to a provisionally-fitted position, the moving members are moved by the cam grooves and cam pins of the cam unit so as to displace the operating member from the set position to the preset position, and during the connector-inserting process from the provisionally-fitted position to a completely-fitted position, the operating member is turned from the preset position to the set position so as to move the moving members through the cam unit, thereby drawing the male connector into the completely-fitted position.

    • A spring mechanism (6) is provided at a portion of a connector housing (2). The spring mechanism (6) includes an insertion port (8), a retaining projection (10) and a leaf spring (9) retained by the retaining projection (10). A spring holder (17) for resiliently deforming the leaf spring (9), is provided at a terminal portion (3) to be received in a receiving portion (4). When the terminal portion (3) is inserted into the receiving portion (4), the leaf spring (9) is resiliently deformed by the spring holder (17). As a result, the whole of the terminal portion (3) is urged by the leaf spring (9), and a resilient-retaining piece portion (16), provided at the terminal portion (3), is retainingly engaged in a retaining portion (5) formed at the receiving portion (4), thereby eliminating a clearance between the connector housing and the terminal portion.

The locking mechanism for male and female electrical connectors which are engaged with each others, a guide frame mounted on the upper wall of a male connector housing includes a slide piece which is slidably provided between the upper wall and the guide frame, and a locking spring. One end portion of the locking spring is fixedly secured to the guide frame, and the other end portion is positioned above the front end portion of the slide piece when the latter is at the forward position, and in front of the front end portion when the slide piece is at the backward position. The locking section of the male connector housing and the engaging section of the slide piece hold the slide piece in position. The female connector housing has a connector receiving section. When the two connector housings are engaged with each other, the locking spring is brought in slide contact with the protrusion formed at the connector receiving section.
