    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a porous carbon material, whereby a large relative surface area can be achieved and pore size can be controlled.
      SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the porous carbon material comprises performing gas activation of a carbon raw material, provided that an operation of temporarily replacing activation gas with inert gas inside a furnace is conducted during the gas activation treatment. Specifically, the method comprises: a temperature raising step of placing the carbon raw material inside the furnace and heating the furnace; a first activation step of feeding the activation gas to the heated furnace; a replacement step of replacing the activation gas with the inert gas while heating the furnace after the first activation step; and a second activation step of resuming feeding of the activation gas to the furnace after the replacement step.
