    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of stationing waste stuffs allowing a cylindrical waste stuff to be simply and surely stationed in a disposal gallery of a minimum necessary diameter.
      SOLUTION: In a lower part of the disposal gallery 1, an invert 7 having an axial protrusive ridge 11 of a tunnel 3 is installed near the middle of an upper surface 9. On an upper surface 13 of the protrusive ridge 11, a groove 15 is provided having such a circular arc-shaped cross-section as substantially coincides in curvature with an outer circumferential surface of the cylinder-shaped waste stuff 21. Next, a conveying vehicle 23, having a gripping mechanism 29 and a traveling mechanism 25, is used to convey the waste stuff 21 and a bentonite block 39 to a prescribed position in the disposal gallery 1 with both sides of them sandwiched between a pair of arms 31 of the gripping mechanism 29. The waste stuff 21 and the bentonite block 39 are mounted in the groove 15 so that the center thereof is positioned near the middle of the disposal gallery 1. Then, a backfilled part 19 above the invert 7 is backfilled with bentonite, or the like, by using a spray vehicle 45.

The waste carried in the center of the doughnut is charged into and set in each unit silo 11 opening the provisional lid 40. The provisional lid 40 is closed to prevent leakage of radioactivity and intrusion of rainwater. When the unit silo 11 is filled with the waste, disposal is moved onto the next unit silo.
