    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure sufficient strength and improve workability by providing a flange at the first opening of an upper part, a socket at the second opening of a side part and a seal ring on the inner surface of the socket respectively for inserting a short pipe made of polyethylene, and fitting a sleeve to the inner surface of the short pipe. SOLUTION: Openings 18a, 18b and 18c are respectively formed on the upper part, the left side part and the right side part of an approximately T-shaped metal body 16, and a flange 20 is provided at the opening 18a. On the other hand, sockets 24 are formed on the openings 18b and 18c, and two seal rings 28 are fitted at the prescribed interval to the inner surface of each socket 24. In addition, a polyethylene short pipe 32 is inserted in each of the sockets 24, and a sleeve 34 made of metal such as stainless steel is coupled to the inner surface of the short pipe 32. According to this construction, the body 16 is made of metal and sufficient strength can be properly maintained. Also, the polyethylene short pipe 32 is jointed to the socket 24 as integral part thereof and a polyethylene pipe can be easily jointed to the short pipe 32 via an ordinary joint, when a piping work is executed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To trap chips in a body to prevent chips from being scattered in a pipe by providing a cover which covers a slit at the position above the lower end of a bit and whose outer diameter is smaller than the maximum rotation diameter of the bit. SOLUTION: An external thread 22 formed on a rotation shaft 16 is screwed into an internal thread 24 formed on the upper inner surface of a body 18 to fix a drill bit 10 to the rotation shaft 16. The pipe wall of a resin pipe 12 is cut circularly by the bit 30 by rotating the rotation shaft 16 and the drill bit 10 manually or by driving a motor. The chips of resin pipe 12 remain in the body 18 but they are trapped in the body 18 and are not discharged because the bottom opening of the body 18 is closed by part of the cut pipe wall and a slit 26 is covered by a cover 34. After a hole 14 is drilled, the drill bit 10 is pulled out from the hole 14 and a disc-shaped cut part and chips inserted in the body 18 are removed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability by rotating an adapter against a saddle under a condition that a cap nut which is screwed around a male screw and has a pushing/ pressing part by which a flange is pushed and pressed to the end surface of a short pipe part, is loosened, and adjusting the direction of a snap tap connected to the adapter. SOLUTION: On end part of an adapter 20 is fitted to the inner circumferential surface of a short pipe part 30. A cap nut 22 is screwed around the male screw 32 of the short pipe part 30, and also the male screw 48 of a snap tap 18 is screwed in the female screw 58 of the adapter 20. When a water supply pipe 14 is connected to a main pipe 12 by using a snap tap 10 with a saddle, the faying surface of the saddle 16 is tightly stuck to the peripheral surface of the main pipe 12. Subsequently, a resin is heated and melted by using a current-carrying device, and the saddle 16 and the main pipe 12 are fused. When a fused part is cured, the adapter 20 and the snap tap 18 are rotated under a condition that the cap nut 22 is loosened, so that the direction of the snap tap 18 can be adjusted. Then, the cap nut 22 is fastened and a flange 60 is pushed and pressed to the upper end surface of the short pipe part 30 by a pushing/pressing part 22a, thereby the adapter 20 and the snap tap 18 can be fixed to the saddle 16.
