    • PURPOSE:To safely produce a good-quality ingot providing a cylindrical grating type buckling adjusting flask to the inside of a cylindrical metallic core in the central part of a casting mold and blowing an inert gas during casting and water or gas-mixed mists after buckling of the core from a central cooling nozzle. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical grating type buckling adjusting flask 7 having 5-50mm spaces to prevent the generation of shell cracking is disposed to the inside of the cylindrical metal core 6 disposed to the central part of the casting mold 2. The inert gas is blown to the metallic core 6 from the central cooling nozzle 8 during casting to permit the free shrinkage, on cooling, to the formed shell by the buckling of the metallic core 6, thereby preventing the generation of the surface cracking. The water or the water-gas mixed mists are blown to cool and strengthen the shell during the growth of the casting, by which the generation inverted V segregation is prevented and the buckling deformation is maintained within the specified value. The generation of the internal shell cracking and leakage of the molten steel are thus prevented. The ingot having the good quality without having cracks is thus formed and the hollow ingot is safely produced without the possibility of a steam explosion.

    • PURPOSE:To control the melting speed in an electrode with high accuracy and to permit production of a high-quality steel ingot, by measuring the weights of a molten steel, steel ingot, casting mold and stool, etc., simultaneously during remelting, detecting the deviation between the melting weight and set weight and controlling electric power for melting. CONSTITUTION:The weights of the molten steel 8 melted from the electrode 4 and the steel ingot 10 are necessary. Since the independent measurement of said weights is difficult, the molten steel 8, the steel ingot 10, molten slag 6, the casting mold 2 and the stool 14, etc., are simultaneously measured by a weight measuring instrument 16. The connection of attachments such as cooling pipings to the mold 2 and the stool 14, etc., are so considered that the weights thereof are not loaded on the mold and stool, etc. Only the weight of the molten steel 8 and the steel ingot 10 change during melting. A weight deviation calculating circuit 20 is inputted with the measured weight signal from the instrument 16 and the set weight signal from a set weight circuit 18 and calculates the output increase or decrease signal from the deviation between the two signals. The signal is inputted to an electric power control circuit 22 which in turn controls the throwing melting power to be impressed to the electrode 4. The electrode 4 is automatically moved upward and downward and such operations are repeated.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent condensed segregation and reverse V segregation by charging molten slag on the molten steel surface, dipping electrodes is molten slag while keeping apart from another electrode by more distance than radius of the electrode, conducting the current, heating and solidifying from the bottom part. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 6 is poured into a mold 4 set on a base plate 2 and the molten slag 8 is charged on the surface of the molten steel 6. After charging the molten slag 8, two electrodes for remelting are dipped. The distance between electrodes 10 is made to be more than the radius of electrode 10, in order to prevent arc between the electrodes or the mold 4 and electrodes, and induce suitable slag flowing around the electrodes 10. The prescribed power is conducted in order to induce the suitable slag 8 flowing and melt the electrodes 10. By occurring a flow of molten slag 8 around the electrodes 10, uniformly heating the top part of molten steel 6 and executing grain oriented solidification, the reverse V segregation at the side face is prevented, and condensing of the molten steel is diluted at the top part and the grain oriented solidified ingot having only a little cut-off part is obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the erosion of a feeding head sleeve brick and to prevent the penetration of the molten steel of the feeding head part into the gap caused between a mold and steel ingot by arranging the sleeve protection ring dipping its lower part into a melted slug at the inner side of the feeding head sleeve brick. CONSTITUTION:After pouring a molten steel 7 a molten slug 8 is added thereon, the lower end part of an electrode 6 is dipped into the slug 8 and with its electrification the slug 8 is heated and subjected to a heat insulation. The molten slug located on the molten steel is easily penetrated into the gap of the sleeve brick 4 and ring 5. The slug located in the gap of the sleeve brick 4 and ring 5 is cooled by the both parts of the brick 4 and ring 5 besides having no flow, reaching to be solidified. The slug 8 coming into contact with the ring 5 is cooled to form the protection layer of the ring 5. The molten steel coming into contact with the brick 4 forms as well as solidified shell on the feeding head part. In this way, it is easily solidified even at the time when the molten steel is flowed into the gap of the slug and solidified shell at the solidification contraction time of the steel ingot and the flow of the molten steel into the gap of the mold and steel ingot is prevented.
