    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a divided caisson for requiring a less number of divided caisson structural members to be removed when constructing a lining body consisting of the divided caissons, and to provide a method of constructing a great-section tunnel.
      SOLUTION: Four faces constituting the outer peripheral face of the divided caisson 1 in a hollow rectangular or square cross section intersect one another into a reticular pattern in the state that a plurality of plate beam members 2 have thin faces directed to the outer peripheral face. The used divided caisson 1 has four faces at least one of which is covered with a plate face member 3. The plurality of divided caissons 1 each having four faces all covered with the plate face members 3 are installed in the direction of a tunnel to construct a preceding divided caisson train. On the outer peripheral face of the preceding divided caisson train, a following divided caisson train consisting of the divided caissons 1 having no plate face members 3 are constructed in parallel to the preceding divided caisson train. The following divided caisson trains are sequentially provided in parallel to the previously constructed divided caisson train to construct a lining body 10 consisting of the divided caisson trains and then to construct the great-section tunnel 7.
