    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a main electric motor cooling device for a railway vehicle to such a level that the device is arranged at the lower face of an underframe of the railway vehicle, and to allow a snow piece in the outside air sucked from the underframe of the railway vehicle to be reliably removed.SOLUTION: The main electric motor cooling device for the railway vehicle arranged at the lower face of the underframe of the railway vehicle is constituted of: a box having a suction port; an air blower arranged in the box; a ventilation duct which leads cooling wind blown from the air blower to a main electric motor for the vehicle. A collecting plate which opposes the suction port and extends in a direction in which the plate intersects a flow of air blown out by the air blower is arranged between the suction port and the air blower so that snow sucked into the box together with the cooling wind is collected by utilizing an inertia collision. The collected snow is melted by a heater arranged at the collecting plate and discharged to the outside of the box.

The high-voltage breaker is installed under the floor of the vehicle so that an equipment box covering the mechanical breaker can be opened and closed. Hence the mechanical breaker is handled by under floor work.
