    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable determination of remaining capability of a power cable.SOLUTION: A method for determining deterioration of a power cable including rubber or plastic as an insulation material comprises: measuring a loss current in current flowing through the insulation material of the power cable while changing an application voltage applied to the power cable relating to deterioration determination; determining whether distortion caused by deterioration of the insulation material occurs in a waveform obtained from the loss current to determine an application voltage at the start point of distortion of the waveform as a distortion start voltage; and determining remaining capability of the power cable relating to the deterioration determination on the basis of the determined distortion start voltage, based on a preliminarily obtained relation between the distortion start voltage and remaining capability regarding the given power cable having various deterioration states.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power cable connection part that allows a cable installer to perform the repairing work easily and efficiently without an installation work of a new cable by making use of an existing cable when repairing the connection part of a power cable installed underground.SOLUTION: The power cable connection part 1 comprises: a connection pipe 2 for cable conductor to connect the end parts of cable conductors 11a, 12a of two lines of power cables 11, 12; cable end parts 11A, 12A: and a rubber block insulator 3 covering and surrounding the outer circumference of the connection pipe 2 for cable conductor. The connection pipe 2 for cable conductor is formed of compression sections 2b, 2c which compress and connect the end parts of the conductors at their ends, and a non-compression section 2a arranged at the center part in between the compression sections, having longer length than the length of the compression sections in the axial direction of the cable. The length of an internal semi conductive layer 3a of the rubber block insulator 3 is formed in a size corresponding to the length of the non-compression section 2a of the connection pipe 2 for cable conductor.

A tapered angle α of a tapered face in the lowermost-end corrugated part 2d and a tapered angle β of a tapered face in the shock-absorbing member 5 have the relation: β≥α. The shock-absorbing member 5 is made of a silicon-based water-repellent material.
