    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high reliability in response to common-cause failures and the like while decreasing the physical quantities of facilities in regard to safety facilities for a nuclear power plant. SOLUTION: These safety facilities for a reactor has a reactor pressure vessel 2 contained in a reactor containment vessel 1, main steam pipes 25 and water-supply pipes 26 connected to the reactor pressure vessel 2, water-pouring systems for pouring water into the reactor pressure vessel 2 separately and independently in divisions of them and power source facilities for feeding the equipment in the water-pouring systems separately and independently in each of the divisions. The power source facilities are used as power sources for feeding motor-operated valves 7a, 7b, 7c, 8a, 8b and 8c included in an isolation condenser system where the steam received in a condenser 6 from the main steam pipes 25 by way of a pipe 9 is condensed by the condenser 6 and the condensed water is returned to water-supply pipes 26 through the pipe 63 and the pipes 9 and 63.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency core cooling system which makes it possible to recover the liquid level of a coolant in a reactor more rapidly after the occurrence of a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA). SOLUTION: In a core spray system 44, a cooling water pool 12 and a reactor 2 are connected by a spray pipe 4 equipped with an electrically-driven isolation valve 17a and a blasting valve 8. In a system 45 for supplying pressure suppression pool water, a pressure suppression pool 13 and the reactor 2 are connected by a spray pipe 5 equipped with an electrically-driven isolation valve 17b and a blasting valve 9. If a LOCA happens, the blasting valves 8 and 9 will open one by one and cooling water will be poured into the reactor 2 sequentially by gravity drop from the cooling water pool 12 and the pressure suppression pool 13. When a measured value of a water level gauge 21 placed in the cooling water pool 12 falls below the set point, a controller 23 closes the electrically-driven isolation valve 17a entirely. When a measured value of the water level gauge 22 placed in the pressure suppression pool 13 falls below a set point, a controller 24 closes the electrically-driven isolation valve 17b entirely.
