    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that in a direct method fuel cell (DMFC) using a hydrogen series electrolyte membrane, reduced wall thickness and breakage occur from a cathode side of an electrolyte membrane, battery performance is reduced, and power generation becomes impossible in several hundred hours after starting to supply a fuel.
      SOLUTION: By introducing a sulfoalkyl group or a sulfonic acid group to the hydrocarbon based electrolyte membrane as a proton conductive group, and by introducing a phosphor-alkyl group as an oxidation resistance granting group, this is not dissolved into a methanol water solution of the fuel, and stable power generation of a long time becomes possible. Moreover, by using a hydrocarbon based electrolyte in which the sulfoalkyl group or the sulfonic acid group is introduced as an electrolyte of an electrode and as the proton conductive group, in which the phosphoalkyl group is introduced as the oxidation resistance donating group, the DMFC which is inexpensive and which is capable of being stable for a long time can be obtained.
