摘要： Provided is an information management method for use in an information management system that includes a coordinate pointing device for identifying a paper medium, and a contents server for managing a digital document, and holds an attribute of the digital document and an attribute of a paper document obtained by printing the digital document on the paper medium, the information management method comprising: judging whether a paper document identified by the coordinate pointing device is a master of a document by referring to an attribute of the paper document; and permitting, when it is judged that the identified paper document is the master of the document, to update information annotated to the identified paper document in a digital document corresponding to the paper document to which the information has been annotated.

Provided is an information management method for managing information concerning a medium executed in an information management system including: the medium capable of representing on a surface thereof object information that is contents concerning an object; a management apparatus for managing a history of operation on the medium; and a printing apparatus for representing the object information on the medium and erasing the represented object information from the medium, the information management method comprising: holding, by the management apparatus, a correspondence among an identifier of the medium, the object information represented on the medium, and a valid period of the object; and recording, by the management apparatus, a start of the valid period of the object when the printing apparatus represents the object information on the medium.

摘要： An electronic pasting method for pasting electronic data in consideration of printed and written data, including updating pasted data when electronic data is updated after it is pasted. The electronic pasting method uses a detecting unit and a paste information updating unit. The detecting unit detects a paste stroke made over two print sheets filled to denote a user's pasting action with which part or whole of a printed matter of electronic document information is pasted on printed matter, then detects the pasting action from a set of paste strokes, thereby obtaining a paste-from document, a paste-to document, and a paste position according to the pasting action detected by the detecting unit. The paste information updating unit updates the e-document, the printed matter information, and the written information according to the above paste information.

A data entry apparatus disclosed includes: a command element extraction unit which outputs a plurality of recognition candidates for the command element in response to the instruction input from a user, the command rule matching unit, which extracts a command type element out of the plural recognition candidates, and judges the command argument element as an argument for the command type element, and furthermore, determines the combination of a command type element and a command argument element, and a command execution unit, which executes the command of the command type element to the above-determined command argument element. To reduce the limit to a user input becomes possible by taking into consideration of the combination to a plurality of candidates extracted.

摘要： This invention provides an efficient image processing apparatus having merits as the handiness and visibility of paper and the multi-functionality of a computer, enabling trial and error with paper media without capturing all images previously. The apparatus comprises an image capturing unit for electronically capturing paper images by a photo-sensor; an image editing unit for editing such as clipping of partial image or scaling; a user interface unit for receiving user's commands regarding the image editing; an image memory unit for storing; and an image display unit for displaying the images in the image memory unit. An image displaying function is provided on a transparent plane. Photo-sensors are on the plane, and image capturing unit and image display unit are integrated to form an image capturing and display unit. A user gains an operability compatible with human instinct, ignoring a difference between paper and electronic medium.

摘要： A mail system for executing a mail service has a user management part for managing the information that the user previously registered, and a unit for utilizing the registered information as the destination of mails, so that the addresses of recipients can be efficiently managed. The sender acquires an address card that has printed with a pattern linking with the information of recipients. This address card is used when the sender writes a mail, and thus it serves to reduce the load on the sending operation. If a pattern linking with usage history information is printed on the mail, it also reduces the burden on the reply operation in which the recipient sends a reply back to the sender. The use of this usage history information for grasping the usage serves to efficiently adjust and calculate the cost for the service.
