    • A cell buffer circuit included in a system for converting ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) cells to SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy)-based data is disclosed. The cell buffer circuit includes a series connection of a first and a second shift register to which input cell data are sequentially input. In response to a back pressure signal output from a FIFO (First-In First-Out) memory, the output of cell data is interrupted. When the back pressure signal disappears, a selector selects and outputs either one of the cell data stored in the shift registers 11 and 12 having been interrupted first. When invalid data are input, the selector is prevented from selecting the invalid data, or a FIFO write control signal generator is caused to output a FIFO write control signal disabling the writing of cell data in the FIFO memory.

    • Disclosed is a lock-up clutch operative to uniform temperatures on a multiple number of friction surfaces, thereby improving accuracy of a lock-up control and to prevent shudders of a vehicle from being generated. The lock-up clutch includes a front cover, a lock-up piston, a plurality of torque transmitting plates, and a plurality of friction materials formed on the torque transmitting plates and having three or more friction surfaces. The friction materials are constituted by a first friction material frictionally contactable with the front cover, a second friction material frictionally contactable with the lock-up piston, and third friction materials frictionally contactable with at least one of the plates. Three or more friction surfaces are constituted by outside friction surfaces formed on the first and second friction materials and each having a small area, and inside friction surfaces formed on the third friction materials and each having a large area.

    • A stepping motor control device for an automobile air-conditioning system has a key-off home-position setting unit of a stepping motor for driving an air-conditioning door in response to switching of a key switch of the automobile off. The key-off home-position setting unit, responsive to switch of the key switch off, drives the stepping motor so that the air-conditioning door comes to a full-close position or a full-open position, stores data indicative of the full-close or full-open positions, as a current position of the air-conditioning door in a memory, and thereby finishes a home-position setting of the stepping motor. The key-off home-position setting unit is supplied with power from a power source under control of a timer for a prescribed time within which a home-position setting can be finished. When the key switch is turned on, the key-on control unit judges whether or not a current position of the air-conditioning door given by the key-off home-position setting unit is stored in the memory, and starts a normal air-conditioning control without performing a home-position setting if the current position is stored.
