    • PURPOSE:To secure the superior precision by relaxing the springy force of a spring acting onto a spindle member and averting the strain and heat genera tion of a bearing by installing the spring for clamping a tool holder in a spindle unit, outside the spindle member. CONSTITUTION:A spindle unit consists of a spindle member 54 which revolves under the action of a servomotor 180, tool holder 56 for holding a twist drill 178, rod part 138 fitted into the hole on the spindle member 54, and a clamp mechanism 52 which presses the tool holder 56 onto one edge part of the spindle member 54 by pulling the rod member 138 on revolution and releases the pressing force when a tool is replaced. Said clamping mechanism 52 consists of a cylinder apparatus 50 for pressing the rod part 138, spring member 80, and a ball which is fitted into the hole part of the spindle member 54 and whose one part contacts with the tapered surface foomed onto the rod part 138 on unclamping and contacts with the peripheral surface contiguously formed onto the tapered surface on clamping.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a possibility that a tool shaft may deflect under the influence of gravity by providing a tool turning column for swingably holding a tool rotary part by a horizontal turning shaft in order to turn the tool shaft from a looking downward position up to a horizontal position. SOLUTION: With a work W held by an index unit and a tail stock, a groove W1 is ground by a grinding wheel 14 which is rotated at high speed around a vertical shaft in a facing downward position. After one groove W1 is ground, the work is rotated 120 degrees by the index unit for a next groove W1 to face on the grinding wheel 14. When the grinding wheel is dressed, a tool rotary part 12 is turned 90 degrees to hold a tool shaft 13 and the grinding wheel 14 at a dressing position. Then, a rotary dresser 16 is brought closer to the grinding wheel 14. While a tip 16a abuts against the grinding wheel 14 to oscillate a disc 16c, for example, through ±70 degrees, the grinding wheel 14 is shaped up.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate the change of an indexing pitch and pitch conical angle and the exchange of a used indexing unit, by providing a column freely revolvable around a vertical shaft at the front side of a tool, and providing indexing units which hold a work on the peripheral face of the column. CONSTITUTION:This indexing device rotates per pitch the workpiece A processed by the tool 4 fitted to the horizontal spindle 3 of a bevel gear work machine. A column 5 freely revolvable at an optional angle around the vertical axial line is provided at the front side of the tool 4 and also indexing units 7 having workpiece holders 6 are provided on the peripheral face of this column 5. In the case of the machine kind change of the work A, therefore, it can be coped with by revolving the column 5 so that the indexing unit 7 in the indexing pitch conformed to the machine kind is selected at the work position opposed positively to the tool 4. In this case, it can cope with the change of a pitch conical angle as well, because of the inclination of the indexing unit 7 to the spindle 3 being able to be changed with the revolving of the column 5 as well.
