    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a hot-wire type air flowmeter for measuring the intake air quantity of an internal combustion engine, wherein a heating resistor having a small heat capacity is required to be used in order to acquire excellent responsiveness, and on the contrary, if waterdrops, oil-drops or the like adhere to the heating resistor part, heating balance is lost and a heating temperature of the heating resistor is raised locally, to thereby deteriorate the resistor by the heat. SOLUTION: This thermal air flowmeter is provided with a means for detecting the heating state of the heating resistor and a circuit means for restricting a heating time according to the heating state, by discriminating the case where the waterdrops, the oil-drops or the like adhere to the heating resistor part from the ordinary non-adhering case.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively filter a pollutant by placing a change means for a flow direction functioning as inertia filter, which removes the pollutant disturbing measurement, at a flow control and then a flow detection part after the change means. SOLUTION: A change means for a flow direction comprises louvers 11 where vanes are spaced uniformly with an inclination of a definite angle, a guide 12 with an inclination of a definite angle to the louvers 11, and a removal outlet 13 removing the pollutant filtered by the guide 12. A part of air passed through an air cleaner 60, flows between the louvers 11 and guide 12. A flow of the air is changed a flow direction when passing through the louvers 11, and the pollutant in the fluid remains because the pollutant can not follow a change of the flow direction because of inertia thereof and is pushed away to the removal outlet 13. The pollutant is extracted out to an outside of the removal outlet 13 by differential pressure because of outside velocity faster than inside velocity, and then joins a main flow to be flowed to a down stream from a flow detection part 20. The flow detection part 20 is not exposed to the pollutant because a flow in the flow detection part 20 is a clean flow passed through the louvers 11.
