摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an inexpensive display which has a resolution lower than an image signal of high resolution to display the image signal of high resolution. SOLUTION: The terminal equipment which displays display image data 100 supplied from a host computer as video on the display device performs a thinning-out process by using a two-dimensional mask pattern stored in a mask pattern storage part 20 to compress the input image signal to display size (e.g. 640×512) smaller than the original display screen (e.g. 1280×1024) of the input image signal. The mask pattern is so constituted that compressed image signals of respective characters (e.g. 0-9 and A-F in hexadecimal notation) in a specific range can be discriminated.
