    • A blood treatment apparatus, comprising a blood treatment unit (D) configured to receive untreated blood and fresh blood treatment fluid, and emit treated blood and used blood treatment fluid, a pair of fluid pumps ( PF1, PF2; PF3, PF4) configured to pass blood treatment fluid through the blood treatment unit (D), a pair of blood pumps ( PB1, PB2) configured to extract untreated blood from a blood source (BS), pass extracted blood through the blood treatment unit (D) and deliver treated blood to a target vessel (BT), each blood pump comprising a pump chamber and a flexible member ( FM1; FM2) separating the pumping chamber into a first blood accumulating container (B1; B2) and a second working fluid accumulating container (F1; F2) where the flexible member is configured to vary a volume relationship between the first and the second accumulation containers. Further the apparatus comprises a control unit (P) and a measuring means configured to emit a feedback signal indicative of the amount of working fluid received into, or discharged from at least one of the second accumulation containers (F1; F2) whereby the pumped mass or volume of working fluid is determined by the control unit (P) at an arbitrary position of the flexible member (FM1, FM2).

    • A proposed blood treatment apparatus includes: a blood treatment unit (D), a pair of fluid pumps (PF1, PF2) and a pair of blood pumps (PB1, PB2). The blood treatment unit (D) is configured to receive untreated blood and fresh blood treatment fluid, and emit treated blood and used blood treatment fluid. The at least one blood flow parameter (BQFI) is determined based on a difference between (i) a first amount (DMI) of fresh blood treatment fluid received into the blood treatment unit (D), and (ii) a second amount (DMO) of used blood treatment fluid emitted from the blood treatment unit (D) during another well-defined period (T a ).

    • A disposable for use in blood treatment comprises a blood treatment unit (8) and a pump arrangement (11) operable to pump blood through the blood treatment unit (8). The pump arrangement (11) comprises two membrane pumps (6, 7) connected in parallel on one side of the blood treatment unit (8). The pump arrangement (11) is configured for connection to a supply system (1) of treatment fluid for the blood treatment unit (8) such that alternating flows of treatment fluid generated by the supply system (1) and supplied to the first and second membrane pumps (6, 7) causes the pump arrangement (11) to generate the desired flows of blood in the single-needle and double- needle modes. The treatment fluid may be used as motive fluid for displacing the blood in the membrane pumps (6, 7) and/or as control fluid for controlling opening and/or closing of upstream and downstream commutation valves (34, 35) in the membrane pumps (6, 7).

    • The present invention relates to a membrane pump and an apparatus comprising such a membrane pump. The membrane pump comprises a pumping chamber and a flexible member separating the pumping chamber into a first accumulation container and a second accumulation container. The flexible member is configured to be movable within the pumping chamber so as to vary a volume relationship between the first and second accumulation container. The second accumulation container is configured to receive an amount of working fluid to act on the flexible member and thus, in use, pump a first fluid from the first accumulation container. The first and the second accumulation container, each has an inlet opening for inlet of the respective fluid and an outlet opening for outlet of the respective fluid, the inlet opening being arranged on one side of the accumulation container and the outlet opening being arranged on the opposite side of the accumulation container. The flexible member is configured to show, when arranged in the pumping chamber and seen in a cross section along a plane extending through a pair of the inlet and outlet openings of the accumulation container, a thickness that is increased in a downstream direction.
