    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for agglomerating a powder material containing iron and moisture which can produce an agglomerated material having high strength by a low-cost method using a powder material containing iron and moisture such as wet dust as raw material, and can produce pig iron using a vertical furnace.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for agglomerating a powder material 2 containing iron and moisture which is used when the agglomerated material of the powder material 2 is charged into a vertical furnace to recover metal iron. The powder material 2 includes at least iron oxide and/or iron hydroxide as the iron. The powder material 2 is dried using a direct fire type kiln 7 in which the theoretical combustion temperature of burner flame is controlled to ≥1,000°C, and the powder material 8 after the drying is molded into a lumpy shape so as to be an agglomerated material. In the case the powder material containing iron and moisture includes iron hydroxide in a drying state by ≥15 mass%, preferably, the drying is performed in such a manner that the maximum temperature at the inner wall of the direct fire type kiln 7 reaches ≥800°C.
