By sliding the optical fiber cores or the flawing tool in a longitudinal direction so as to allow the optical fiber tape core to pass through the inside of the groove part 7 while housing it in the groove part 7, the optical fiber tape core is cleaved by the dividing blades 11 to 13 to separate the optical fiber tape core into single cores. At this time, only the parts of the surface layers of the tensile fiber bundles 6 consisting of many pieces of the tensile fibers in contact with the outside coating layer 6 are impregnated with the resin of the outside coating layer 6. A transparent liquid flame retardant or reaction type flame retardant is compounded into the outside coating layer 6 or the coating layers of the coated optical fiber ribbon 7.

Namely, this optical fiber cord 12 is formed by using the optical fiber 9 provided with a primary coating 7 and secondary coating 8 of a UV curing resin on the outer periphery of the optical fiber 1 for communication and providing the outer periphery of the optical fiber 9 with an FRP coating layer 10 and further providing the outer periphery thereof with the colored layer 11. The FRP coating 10 consists of the reinforcing fibers and matrix resin. The tensile org. fibers are preferably arom. polyester liquid crystal fibers.
