    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an S rail with good rolling performance, where it is possible to more efficiently form its surface shape in a section, for no need for much cutting, and reduce the entire manufacturing cost from rolling to make an S rail to its processing into a tongue rail; and also to obtain a tongue rail made of this S rail that can be fastened from the inside of a main track, secure its independence from the main track rail and is good in resisting to tilting.
      SOLUTION: Concerning a material rail used for a tongue rail that is separably attached to a main track rail at its turnout, when the tongue rail is attached there, these two rails shall have an enough height difference between them to allow the provision of a tongue rail fastening means at a position between the bottom face of tongue rail and the upper face of main track rail and within the main track. Preferably, the tongue rail shall have an enough thick body width, and its head and body shall be bilaterally symmetrical in section, while its bottom may be either unsymmetrical or symmetrical in section.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of elastic pads, while making a spring constant of the elastic pads uniform.
      SOLUTION: The elastic pads 10 and 11 of a set of upper-lower two sheets, are installed between an under surface of a sleeper 3 and an upper surface of ballast 2. A truncated cone-shaped projection projecting toward the other surface, is arranged on and meshed with opposed base surfaces of the respective pads 10 and 11 by interposing clearance. Respective projection upper surfaces are allowed to abut on a base surface of the respectively opposed other pads 11 and 10. One projection of one pad is surrounded in an equal azimuth by the projection of the opposed other pads. The respective projections are restricted by the other projection after being deformed by a certain degree in the horizontal direction toward the clearance. Thus, since the projections are distributed over the whole pad, deformation performance is uniformized over the whole surface, and a spring constant and a settlement quantity are regulated by restriction of its deformation, and shearing force can be reduced by checking excessive deformation. When the projection is formed in a hollow shape, the deformation performance is further improved.
