    • In a power steering system having hydraulic power support for motor vehicles, a steering gear shaft having a steering wheel is connected to an input element of a steering gear. An output element of the steering gear is connected to wheels of the vehicle to be steered. Two working chambers of a servo motor of a power boosting system can be supplied with a hydraulic medium from a servo pump through a steering valve in accordance with a torque applied in the area of the steering gear shaft input element. Two sensors for detecting an angle of rotation and a torque are provided on the steering gear shaft and on the output element of the steering gear accordingly. After the steering wheel has been released after a steering operation, the wheels to be steered and the steering gear can be returned with hydraulic support. Both the intensity and direction of the hydraulic power support as well as the returning of the wheels to be steered are controlled by a common, electronically controlled electromagnetic valve. In addition, only one steering force sensor and/or torque sensor is provided for detecting the steering force. With this sensor, the control distances can be reduced greatly, thus yielding a high steering accuracy.

    • The invention relates to an auxiliary power steering system, especially for motor vehicles having a double acting servocylinder with two working chambers and a servopiston. A hydraulic steering limitation device has a valve that coacts with the servopiston responsive to a predetermined extent of power stroke to open a flow path from the pressurized working chamber to the tank connected working chamber to promptly stop the power stroke leaving the servopiston in position for prompt reversal of steering direction under pressure power. A stationary flow channel member extends the substantial length of the servocylinder and passes through a bore in the servopiston with which it has a sliding relationship. At a predetermined end of a power stroke, bores and a passage in the channel member communicate with the working chambers of the servocylinder to equalize the pressure at tank pressure for stopping the power stroke.

    • This invention relates to a pressure turnoff device in the terminal positions of the steering deflection in an auxiliary power steering. In steering systems that reveal a working piston (2) that can be shifted in the steering housing, one inserts this turnoff device in a passage borehole (17) of working piston (2).     • In multifront and rear steering systems a problem exists due to fluid leakage which causes lack of synchronization in return to straight ahead steering position between the front and rear steering linkages causing inaccurate centering of the rear steering linkage in response to manual control of centering of the front steering linkage, where the front steering power is hydraulic and the rear steering power is hydrostatic. The invention provides the particular novelty of a centering device for the rear wheel steering linkage responsive to directional manipulation of the front wheels at the will of a driver from a steered position to a straight ahead position. In one embodiment a power steering cylinder is coupled to the rear steering linkage for effecting steering movement or return. Also connected to the rear steering linkage is a cylinder having a locking device and the centering device connected to actuate the rear steering linkage pursuant to automatically operating circuitry, within the skill of the art. A second embodiment combines the rear power steering cylinder with the locking device and centering device in a single housing.

    • The invention is concerned with a device that cuts off pressure in the final positions of the steering movement in an auxiliary-power steering device. In steering devices that have movable working pistons in the steering gear housing, this cut-off device is installed in a through drilled hole in the working piston. A by-pass valve that is activated by a push rod touching the wall of the housing is provided for every direction of steering. To avoid time-consuming adjustment work on the by-pass valves the walls contain bushings located opposite the push rods that are automatically pushed into the final positions corresponding to the wheel steering angle after the auxiliary-power steering device is installed in the vehicle. That happens as a result of rotating, first without auxiliary power, against the wheel limit stops, with the front axle jacked up, after the preliminary installation of the bushings in their drilled holes. When that happens, the bushings are pushed in by the working piston to the setting (a) that is provided for cutting off the auxiliary power. Since the push rods of the by-pass valves are larger than the depth (s) of the drilled hole in the bushings by the amount of the setting (a), the auxiliary power is cut off shortly before the wheel limit stops are reached.
