    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a favorable baroreflex stimulation system.SOLUTION: The device includes a pulse generator 1139, a lead, a sensor, and a controller 1123, in each of various embodiments of an embedded type device. The pulse generator generates a baroreflex stimulation signal as a part of a baroreflex therapy. The lead is electrically connected to the pulse generator, and is intravascularly supplied to a heart. The lead includes an electrode positioned in an inside of the heart or in the vicinity thereof, to transmit a baroreflex signal to a baroreceptor region in the inside of the heart or in the vicinity thereof. The sensor senses a physiological parameter about an effectiveness of the baroreflex therapy, and provides a signal indicating the effectiveness. The controller is connected to the pulse generator, to control the baroreflex stimulation signal, and is connected to the sensor, to receive the signal indicating the effectiveness of the baroreflex therapy.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a state of the heart of a patient.SOLUTION: The method and apparatus for treating the state of the heart of the patient include disposition of a first electrode Eand a second electrode Ein the right ventricle RV of the heart. A reference electrode RE is disposed inside or outside of the heart inside the body of the patient. A pacing signal including a first signal component, a second signal component and a reference component is generated. The first signal component and the second signal component have opposite polarities from each other, and the first and second signal components have electric potential relative to the reference component. The first component is conducted to the first electrode and the second component is conducted to the second electrode. The reference electrode is connected to the reference component. The reference component may be electric grounding. The disposition of the pacing signal and electrodes is selected to change contraction of the left ventricle LV of the heart.
