    • The invention relates to a method for steering a vehicle by means of a superimposed steering system, wherein a steering angle, given by the driver, and another angle (additional steering angle) are determined and said additional steering angle can be superimposed on the given steering angle according to other parameters, in particular, vehicle dynamics parameters, by means of a superimposition actuator, in particular an electric motor, and via a superimposed transmission, in order to set a resultant steering angle. Said method is characterised in that a value for an input angle (A) (53) of the superimposed transmission is determined, according to a resultant steering angle of the steering system and according to a parameter which depends directly on the additional steering angle, or describes said additional steering angle.

    • The invention relates to a vehicle steering system, comprising a steering operating device, in particular, a hand steering wheel (1), which may be operated by the driver, an electromechanical actuator (12, 13) for the control of each of the steerable wheels (16, 17) of a wheel pair on a steerable vehicle axis (18), to the right and left hand side of a vehicle chassis and means by which steering of both vehicle wheels (16, 17) on said vehicle axle (18) may be guaranteed, by the other still functioning actuator (13, 12), in the case of a failure or a fault with one of the both actuators (12, 13) connected to the steering vehicle axle (18). The invention further relates to at least one set-value transmitter (2, 3), which monitors the steering angle to be set, as operated by the steering operating device (1), at least one actual-value transmitter (19, 20), which monitors the steering angle of the vehicle wheels (16, 17), a central control unit (4), which controls the electromechanical actuators (12, 13), depending on a comparison of a signal from the actual-value transmitter (19, 20) (actual value) with a signal from the set-value transmitter (2, 3) (set value) and a data transmission unit (14, 15), which establishes a data connection between the central control unit (4) and the electromechanical actuators (12, 13).
