    • The invention relates to a process for the preparation of hydroxyalkylated polyethyleneimines by hydroxyalkylation of polyethyleneimines in one or two procedural stages to form reaction products which contain 1 to 200 mol alkylene oxide groups per NH group in the polyethyleneimine. In the one-stage process, there are anhydrous polyethyleneimines and 1 to 20 mol %, in relation to the polyethyleneimines, of at least one anhydrous base, or aqueous solutions of said substances are dehydrated and after removing all the water are reacted at temperatures above 135-150 DEG C with at least one alkylene oxide. Alternatively, in the two-stage process, in the first stage polyethyleneimine is reacted at temperatures of from 80 to 100 DEG C with 0.7 to 0.9 mol, in relation to a mol NH group in the polymerisate, of at least one alkylene oxide in an aqueous solution, and in the second stage the reaction product obtained in the first step is reacted in the presence of 1 to 20 mol %, in relation to polyethyleneimine, of an alkaline catalyst in the absence of water at temperatures of from 120 to 150 DEG C with at least one alkylene oxide to form hydroxyalkylated polyethyleneimines which contain 1 to 200 mol of alkylene oxide groups per NH group in the polyethyleneimine. The consequent alkoxylated products are only slightly coloured.

    • Production of oxalkylates of oligoamines or polyamines in a two-stage process in which, in the first stage, a molecule of alkylene oxide per NH group is added to the oligoamine or polyamine in the presence of water, alcohols or acids or a mixture thereof in the absence of a neutral or basic catalyst and, in the second, after the removal of water and acids, a reaction is conducted with further alkylene oxide in the presence of a conventional neutral or basic catalyst.     • The present invention pertains to a method for continuous cross-linking water-soluble condensates and additives containing amino groups, involving at least bifunctional cross-linking reagents in an aqueous solution or organic solvents in water at a temperature of 20 DEG C to 180 DEG C, resulting in cross-linked reaction products which are water-soluble and characterized, for 20 wt. % of an aqueous solution at a temperature of 20 DEG C, by a viscosity of 50 to 2000 mPas. A mixture of water-soluble condensates and additives containing amino groups and cross-linking reagents, or both reaction partners, are continuously fed into a tubular reactor, inside which they circulate under laminal flow (Reynolds number: 0,005 - 500), then continuously polycondensated in a cylindrical stirrer, whereby the reagents involved in the reaction are let, from one side of a double coaxial cylinder, into the intermediate space between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder for the purposes of polycondensation. At least one cylinder of the double coaxial cylinder is caused to rotate, with an angular speed relative to the other cylinder, thereby producing Taylor swirls (Taylor number: 20 to 2000) in the reaction mixture.
